What made me start with photography? Very early on I came in contact with photography. I thought it was fun as a child to work with disposable cameras. When I saw a great view during my holidays I just captured it. It was primarily to capture things that I liked, things I wanted to remember, such as a special place or happening or any other reason which I had the need to capture. This urge has always been there actually.
For the final assignment of CKV in high school, a classmate and I decided to do some photography and photo editing. So we set off with a digital camera went to put things on the picture and then we edited those images where we, for example, combined two pictures with the result of a model ship on the Rhine. When I started visiting concerts I also had the urge to capture the moments. I then bought my first digital camera, a 2 megapixel Fujifilm camera with a good lens through which I often had better pictures than the 4-megapixel cameras.
Later I had several cameras before buying a reflex camera. My interest went out to more than just concert photography. Also, sports and nature photography had my interest. It's, I think, the desire to share the moments I enjoy. I want to share the memories of a good concert, the thrill of a match, the beauty of nature.. I want to share the things I enjoy.
Next step was to get the skills to make a good picture. Technique, composition, training the eye and mind to see things that are worth taking pictures of. By doing concertphotography I was training my technique. I learned how to control the camera by using the manual settings. I decided to join the Fotovakschool in Amsterdam. There I learned how to work with composition, studio, how to optimize the photo’s and make them ready for print.
